TheOSgroks / NOTGrokOS — Public changelog ========================================= ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 2026-09-27 — v10.01 installer + Nitro update ISO ---------------------------------------------------------------------- WHAT THIS RELEASE IS - Full wipe installer: TheOSgroks-Unified-Test-v10.01-amd64.iso Built from debian-13.5.0-amd64-netinst plus the grokos overlay. Volume id GROKOS_V10_01. About 1.36 GB. - Nitro update disc: TheOSgroks-Nitro-Update-v10.01.iso About 108 MB. This is NOT a wipe installer. - Download page is iso-index.php. The Maumbauer homepage (index.php) is not replaced by this publish. INSTALLER (full ISO) - Login: testbed. Password is the one in the preseed on the disc. It is not expired, so SSH works after install. - Boot menu worker-primary is Nitro, the .208 AN515 (SATA disk, not NVMe). worker-storage is Aspire, the .167 A315. Also: generic auto-find, nvme0/nvme1 fallbacks, headless serial minimal. - Default Grok model string on the image: grok-4.7 (v9.0.1 still said grok-4.5). - Kernel packages in the grokos pool: linux-image-amd64 6.12.107-1 from Debian trixie-security (image deb dated 2026-08-29). - The debian-installer kernel on the USB is still the netinst's own 6.12.86. A fresh install does not magically boot 6.12.107 until the packaged image is installed. That is what the Nitro update disc does on a machine that is already installed. - Same kernel update kit is also on the full ISO at /grokos/updates/worker-primary/ (upgrade-worker-primary.sh plus the two debs). The redistribution tree renames "Nitro" to worker-primary. NITRO UPDATE DISC (use this today if the box is already installed) - Mount it. Do not boot it as an installer. sudo mount /dev/sr0 /mnt sudo bash /mnt/upgrade-nitro.sh sudo umount /mnt - Script runs: dpkg -i linux-image-6.12.107+deb13-amd64_6.12.107-1_amd64.deb dpkg -i linux-image-amd64_6.12.107-1_amd64.deb update-grub - Files on the disc: those two debs, upgrade-nitro.sh, README.txt. - 6.12.86 stays in the GRUB menu as fallback. - Pull the USB before reboot (Nitro ramdisk lesson). - Proven: Aspire (.167) booted 6.12.107+deb13-amd64 on 2026-09-16 after the same debs, agent came back, old kernel left installed. - Not proven: this exact v10.01 ISO has not been flashed. - Nitro was offline when v10.01 was cut. Last live check of Nitro was kernel 6.12.86-1, hostname nitro, agent up, SSH key id_ed25519_nitro. Do not assume it has moved. WHAT v10.01 DOES NOT DO - Does not reinstall Nitro or Aspire by itself. - Does not change the public homepage. - Does not ship a new debian-installer kernel. - Does not install linux-headers 6.12.107 (linux-kbuild for 107 is not in the pool). Image only. - Does not register Aspire. It stays off the node list until you say so. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 2026-09-26 — v10 (first V10 cut, superseded by v10.01 the next day) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- - Same installer contents as v10.01 except the version stamp and the update-ISO filename (v10, not v10.01). - First image whose USB marker said V10 and grok-4.7. - Login text corrected from the old "user / changeme" note to testbed. - Nitro update ISO first built this day as TheOSgroks-Nitro-Update-v10.iso. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 2026-09-09 — v9.0.1 worker reinstall ISO (kernel 6.12.107) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- - linux-image-amd64 6.12.107-1 (trixie-security) in pool + Packages.gz - Login for Nitro and Aspire: testbed (same password as ISO preseed) - Hostnames differ via boot menu: nitro vs aspire - BUILD SSH public keys installed to ~testbed/.ssh/authorized_keys - Boot: “Nitro (.208 AN515)” and “Aspire (.167 A315)” + Headless serial - Password not expired (SSH after install). Aspire remains unregistered until OS OK. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 2026-09-09 — ISO tree: Debian kernel 6.12.107 + headless boot entry ---------------------------------------------------------------------- KERNEL - Live Nitro / previous ISO pool: linux-image 6.12.86-1 (2026-05-08) - Debian trixie-security current: linux-image-amd64 6.12.107-1 - iso-full pool + Packages.gz now ship 6.12.107 (image + headers) - Installer d-i vmlinuz/initrd still 6.12.86 (debian-installer udebs unchanged) - Rebuild/publish ISO to ship this on USB/TNAS HEADLESS - New boot: “Headless — auto-find disk + Minimal (serial)” isolinux grokos.cfg + GRUB grub.cfg → preseed-minimal.cfg auto=true, framebuffer=false, console=tty0 + ttyS0,115200n8 - preseed-minimal.cfg already: auto-install, priority critical, no desktop ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 2026-08-02 — v9.0.0-Final (V9 / Final label) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- LABEL - ISO version string: v9.0.0-Final - USB root marker: TheOSgroks-v9.0.0-Final.txt · “V9 / Final” - Still experimentation-only (not commercial release) CARRIED FROM v8.2.x - Privacy strip (no home LAN / personal names on redistribution tree) - Offline package-cache (LibreOffice, GIMP, creative, VR — not preinstalled) - Generic login: user / changeme with forced password change; no autologin - BUILD self + voice helpers on every install - Stock Debian kernel; docs 23-KERNEL + 24-HARDWARE-ADAPTATION HARDWARE ADAPTATION (honest bound) - Automated path: probe → firmware/packages → modules → GRUB profile - Can modify/rebuild *provided open-source* drivers for close hardware variants - Cannot invent drivers for unsupported silicon with no source/vendor package ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 2026-08-02 — v8.2.3 Generic login + forced password reset ---------------------------------------------------------------------- LOGIN (distribution ISO) - Default account: user / changeme (hostname grokos-node) - Password expired at end of install (passwd -e / chage -d 0) - First login must set a new password - LightDM autologin disabled (set GROKOS_ENABLE_AUTOLOGIN=1 only for lab VMs) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 2026-08-02 — v8.2.2 Privacy strip + offline creative package-cache ---------------------------------------------------------------------- PRIVACY (redistribution ISO) - Sanitizer strips home-LAN IPs, personal names, operator-only configs - Removed: care-beacon, personal chat/theme packs, operator deploy helpers - Docs with private architecture notes stubbed for distribution builds OFFLINE PACKAGE-CACHE (prefetched, NOT preinstalled) - ~324 Debian debs under grokos/package-cache/ (~289 MB) - LibreOffice modules, GIMP, Inkscape, darktable, audacity, rawtherapee - VR: monado-service, openxr layers, mesa-vulkan-drivers, vulkan-tools - Dev/voice Python deps; install on demand: sudo grokos-install-packages.sh office|creative|vr|… - install-grokos.sh copies cache → /opt/grokos/package-cache (still uninstalled) DEFAULT INSTALL - Still does NOT install office/creative/VR suites (disk-friendly) - BUILD self + voice helpers remain on every install ---------------------------------------------------------------------- v8.2.0 — BUILD self on every install (2026-07-20) ------------------------------------------------- - Maximum Grok BUILD presence on all NotGrokOS/TheOSgroks installs - /usr/share/theosgroks/build-self/ : identity, local-first policy, full public grok-build source, plugin-marketplace, grok-prompts, cached CLI installers, Build GUI portable zip, dual-brain/VM helpers - Command: theosgroks-build-self - Docs: 21-BUILD-SELF-ON-EVERY-INSTALL.txt ; refreshed 18-NOTGROKOS-OPEN-SOURCE - install-grokos.sh installs BUILD self + build-controller for Win copy-off - Default model remains grok-4.5; SuperGrok/Premium+ on conductor via notgrokos-link This file is published on the download page and shipped on the ISO. We aim for 100% transparency: what works, what is incomplete, and what was added recently on the homelab conductor (BUILD PC). ISO line: see VERSION / version.json next to the download. Default Grok model: grok-4.5 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 2026-07-19 — Homelab + ISO tree (v8.1.1 bake; new ISO binary optional) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- LAN chat (operator-b ↔ operator) and portable Windows BUILD pack documented and integrated into the ISO documentation tree. ADDED - Two-way LAN chat UI + API (file server favorites host, or node-local :8765 when baked into startpage on ISO). URLs (homelab file server): http://:8765/chat/?who=operator-b http://:8765/chat/?who=operator - Big "Chat with operator" / "Chat with operator-b" buttons on favorites pages. - One-shot messages (banner + optional desktop popups via Care Beacon watchers). Popups require a small watcher process on the receiving PC. - Portable operator-b-BUILD install for Windows laptops (headless Build GUI :7432, local favorites/Talk :8767, portable Python runtime). - Operator doc: grokos/docs/20-LAN-CHAT-AND-operator-b-BUILD.txt - FIX-FAVORITES-CHAT.bat so local operator-b favorites (127.0.0.1:8767) get the Chat button (desktop shortcut often opens local, not file server). - INSTALL-operator-POPUP.bat (operator-b PC polls file server for operator messages). - Video repair tools for Windows (REPAIR-VIDEO.bat full DISM/SFC; REPAIR-VIDEO-QUICK.bat skips long DISM/SFC). Full path can take 30–90 minutes — that is normal, not a freeze. - Download page Changelog section (this file + version.json list). - ISO bake: startpage/chat, care-beacon scripts, operator-b-build-install lite pack under iso-full/grokos/. TRANSPARENCY / LIMITATIONS - Full portable Python runtime may not ship inside the ISO (size); the complete USB pack lives on the Windows BUILD conductor: C:\GrokBuild\agent-tools\operator-b-build-install\ - Care Beacon direct push BOSS:7425 is often blocked by Windows firewall (Public profile). Reliable path is file server file queue + watcher. - Passive overnight monitor does NOT remote-control a locked laptop (no DISM status without SMB/WinRM). - Build GUI fails if install copies only Python without build-gui\www; START-BUILD-GUI-NOW must copy the full pack. - This changelog entry does not by itself produce a new .iso binary. Rebuild + publish-iso-to-file server when you want the bits on the d/l ISO. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 2026-07-17 — v8.1.1 Unified Test ISO (published channel) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- - Release TheOSgroks-Unified-Test-v8.1.1-amd64.iso - Default Grok model: grok-4.5 - Installed-node version auto-check (theosgroks-version-check) - Download page version.json channel - Open-source alignment notes (xAI grok-build harness) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- v8.0.x / v7 / v6 (summary) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- - v8.0: first v8 download line (archived when v8.1 ships) - v7: frozen public distribution (superseded) - v6: frozen homelab baseline KNOWN WALLS (still true — help wanted) - BUILD conductor needs X Premium+ for full agent mode - Multi-node cluster routing / admission still maturing - PXE/HTTP network install documented more than shipped - Experimentation only — not commercial software SEE ALSO ON ISO grokos/docs/00-START-HERE.txt grokos/docs/20-LAN-CHAT-AND-operator-b-BUILD.txt grokos/docs/12-ROADMAP.txt grokos/docs/EXPERIMENTATION-DISCLAIMER.txt grokos/startpage/ (favorites + chat UI when served) Homelab operator sources (BUILD PC) C:\GrokBuild\agent-tools\startpage\ C:\GrokBuild\agent-tools\operator-b-build-install\ C:\GrokBuild\agent-tools\care-beacon\ C:\GrokBuild\agent-tools\grokos-iso-build\ Last updated: 2026-07-19 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 2026-07-31 — SpaceX Ops V1 1.0.0 (mobile APK + download page) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ADDED - Android APK SpaceXOps-1.0.0-debug.apk (com.example-org.spacexops) - Web kit SpaceXOps-V1-1.0.0.zip on file server ISO download / projects page - Sideload notes SPACEX-OPS-MOBILE-SIDELOAD.txt updated for V1 - Installed on Lenovo Tab M11 () via ADB - ISO tree: grokos/games/spacex-ops-v1.0.0/ NOTES - Debug APK (sideload); not Play Store - Desktop pygame channel still v0.1.18 until promoted - Not affiliated with SpaceX (parody / experimentation) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 2026-08-01 — SpaceX Mobile vs Desktop fully separated (downloads) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- CHANGED - Mobile and PC are independent products (no shared "latest" coupling) - Mobile channel: dl/mobile/ + projects/spacex-ops-mobile.php - Desktop channel: dl/updates/ + projects/spacex-ops-desktop.php - spacex-ops-latest.zip is pygame desktop only again (not web V1 zip) - games/spacex-ops-mobile/ owns APK publish script - Hub page spacex-ops.php is a chooser only ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 2026-08-01 — The Marriage Game Mobile v1.0.0 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ADDED - Android APK TheMarriageGame-1.0.0-debug.apk (com.example-org.marriagegame) - Project page projects/the-marriage-game.php - dl/mobile/ channel entry + sideload notes - Installed on Lenovo Tab M11 () - ISO tree: grokos/games/the-marriage-game-mobile-v1.0.0/ - Dual games: Whack the Husband / Don't Bonk the Wife ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 2026-08-01 — v8.2.1 BUILD + Voice on every install ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ENSURED - BUILD self still installed by install-grokos.sh → /usr/share/theosgroks/build-self - build-controller package synced for Windows conductor copy-off - Voice pack added: grokos/voice/ (xai-voice helpers + voice-talk) - install-grokos.sh runs theosgroks-install-voice.sh on every node - Commands: theosgroks-voice, theosgroks-tts, theosgroks-stt - Docs: 22-VOICE.txt, 23-KERNEL.txt KERNEL - GrokOS does NOT ship a custom kernel (stock Debian linux-image-amd64) - ISO pool currently: 6.12.86-1 (trixie); Debian security may offer newer 6.12.x (e.g. 6.12.96-1) — apt upgrade after network connect - GrokOS only adjusts GRUB cmdline (AMD/NVIDIA profiles) + initramfs NOTE - Rebake .iso binary with build_iso.py / publish-iso-to-file server when shipping a new downloadable ISO; this tree update prepares the content.
